2022 Schools South West Regional Qualifier

On Sunday 4th December 2022, BTA students headed down to Taunton for the British Schools Gymnastics Association South West Regional Qualifier.

With an early start of the competition at 8am and a full day ahead, Simon and Petra had a very busy day. Petra was the Chairperson of one of the Panels of Judges for the day, leaving Simon to ensure all the students were warmed up and in the right place at the right time for their flight.

But success for many of these hard working students was to come, many for whom this was their first ever trampoline competition. With nearly 250 students from the South West competing for the top places to qualify for the Southern Zonal Championships, it was a very tough competition and the pressure was on.

A big thank you also to our parent volunteers for working on the judges panels helping out with the scoring - Ms Davies (Amelia KD's mum) and Mr Tucker (Jacob's Dad). Without the parent helpers we would not be able to compete in these competitions, as it is completely run by volunteers.

• Lucas Briffet - 2nd Intermediate Boys - Oldfield School

• Jacob Tucker - 2nd Novice Boys - St Vigor and St John Primary School

• Fleur Honeywell - 2nd Novice Girls - Hayesfield School

• Hattie Stone - 3rd Novice Girls - Hayesfield School

• Mali Jones - 3rd Novice Girls - Hayesfield School

• Phoebe Lewis - 4th Novice girls - Hayesfield School

• Emily Bendry - 5th Intermediate Girls - Hayesfield School

• Aaron Stirling - 5th Novice Boys - Castle Primary School

The following 3 teams from Haysfield School also qualified:

• Team C - Years 7-8 Girls Novice - Fleur Honeywell, Hattie Stone, Orlagh Curran, Phoebe Lewis

• Team E - Years 7-8 Girls Novice - Tayla Ward, Amelia Nichols, Lottie Incledon, Poppy Davies

• Team A - Years 7-9 Girls Intermediate Team A - EmilyBendry, Ruby Favager, Ella Johnston Gunn, Amelia Korner Davies

So all these students have qualified for the Southern Zonal Championships which are on Sunday 15th January 2023 at Jumpers Rebound Centre, Mill Road, Gillingham, Kent, ME7 1HN
